Squeezed London was today announced as Tower Hamlets Borough Council's preferred bidders for a small site in Lark Row, Bethnal Green, E2.
After 4 years of working together to bring our idea to a reality, we are over the moon to have been announced as the winning bid for the site at Lark Row. You can read Tower Hamlets' announcement here and you can hear more about our approach to this site here .
We have been working with the London Borough of Tower Hamlets since 2017 and met through the Tower Hamlets Self Build Forum, and our group of members from across Tower Hamlets and East London couldn't be more thrilled to be the pioneers of this programme and working to create successful, sustainable and affordable co-housing. Over the coming months, we'll be working with our design team and neighbours in this corner of Tower Hamlets to shape our ideas for this site and develop the proposals towards a planning application.
We can't wait to share more news with you about the journey so far, how we got here, and what happens next as we work with our local communities to develop our proposals for this site.
Squeezed London worked with the support of advisors from Community Led Housing London and Archio was selected to lead the design process to deliver a high quality feasibility study and design concept for the site which is expected to deliver six new two and three bedroom family homes along with valuable new community space.
We're aiming to complete the scheme, which is now going through a detailed design process prior to submission for formal planning, by Christmas 2024.
